Another Weekend of Lost Points / Day 42-44

Day 42

Went on an insane Halloween bike party throughout the city of Baltimore. 1,300+ riders were counted! Traffic was blocked at every intersection for 10+ minutes. The ride ended at Union Craft Brewing with a big Halloween party including dancing, food trucks, a photo booth and a moonbounce. Amazing night. And yup, I spent all my diet points on lots of deliciously naughty things: beers, a burger and some candy. The WLC and Halloween don’t play well together.

Breakfast: Skipped the breakfast photo since I was in a rush (slightly overslept by accident) but it was a repeat of yesterday’s meal.

Yup, I gotta get my eggs in even when I’m running late. You don’t want to see me without breakfast in my belly.

Snack: Apple, peanut butter, hard-boiled egg, banana.

Lunch: Spinach salad, chicken, red cabbage, pecans, pomegranate seeds. Pumpkin, sweet potato and leek soup on the side.

Dinner: I didn’t have my camera with me at the Halloween party, but I got a giant burger from the Chowhound that had lettuce, tomato, red onion, applewood smoked bacon and cheddar on it. Also drank 2.5 beers. Even though it was all-you-can-drink, I could not have another drop. I’m even more of a lightweight nowadays.

Was an idiot and realized I had made NO time for my running. There goes my two bonus points.

Another stupid lost point.

Day 43

The entire day was one big downward spiral from last night. At least the workout was good.

Breakfast / Lunch: Kicked the day off by losing all three diet points at brunch! Cory and I decided to get food at Pete’s Grille where I got a bacon, mushroom and Swiss omelet with a big side of home fries and wheat toast on the side. Made all kinds of happy noises through the entire meal. Wish I hadn’t forgotten my camera.

Dinner: Since food points were messed up anyway, I joined Cory at the local Korean take-out place right near our house, Ajumma. Ordered my favorite Korean meal, bibimbap. Dear God, yes.

Took the zero diet points even further by topping the meal off with sweet potato ice cream from Dominion. Uh-mazing. So ready to try pumpkin next. I’ve had their spinach ice cream before and it’s just awesome.

Probably one of my favorite food days in weeks.

Custom workout: 5k time trial. Hadn’t run a 5k in almost a year so I was curious to see where I was. My last best time was 27:22 when I was specifically training for a 5k, so I completely shocked myself by getting 26:42! My average pace was 8:35. Really happy with myself.

About 10 minutes of fast walking on the way to the track. Foam roll and static stretches when I got back home.

Day 44

Food co-op swap day! I cooked up a giant batch of my favorite beef chili (omitted the sugar) and made those carrot banana muffins as well. Walked away with so much amazing food. Really happy to be a part of this.

Breakfast: Two sunny side up eggs and some bacon.

Lunch: Butternut squash soup that Holly made along with the last carrot banana muffin.

Dinner: Roasted chicken and cauliflower along with some pumpkin, sweet potato and leek soup.

Ran for 10 minutes. 1 mile time: 8:26.

Was at the gym for the food swap so I stuck around and did lots of foam rolling, lax balling and dynamic/static stretches.

New Weekly Challenge: Running / Day 38-41

Weekly Challenge #6: Running

Your 10 minutes of weekly challenge running can count as your workout for the day, as long as you accomplish 10 continuous minutes of running. So, when you do your 10 minutes of weekly challenge running you are covered for both your weekly challenge requirement and your workout for the day if you choose.

You may count a warm-up run before a workout as your daily running requirement as long as you are consciously practicing running, do it for 10 minutes and are not just chatting while jogging.

Shouldn’t be too hard. The weather this week is gorgeous and I’m used to running almost everyday now with this stupid back injury anyway.

Day 38

Breakfast: Four eggs, spinach, hot sauce.

Snack: Half an apple, peanut butter (finally bought a jar – kind of a mistake, as I am now completely addicted), banana and some nuts.

Lunch: The very last of the co-op food (Hawaiian chicken), half a sweet potato, spinach salad on the side and the rest of the apple with some peanut butter. Big lunch!

Dinner: Took the easy route and just roasted lots of food in my oven: rosemary crusted pork tenderloin, bag of Brussels sprouts and some sweet potatoes for a squash soup I’m making later this week.

Ten minutes of running.

Lax ball and foam roll.

Day 39

Gym day!

Breakfast: Four eggs, spinach, hot sauce. New simple favorite.

Snack: Half an apple, peanut butter, banana and a hard-boiled egg.

Lunch: Spinach salad with chicken, sweet potatoes, pomegranate seeds and pecans. The rest of the apple and some peanut butter on the side.

Dinner: Chipotle! Got the only combo that I knew was safe. Lettuce, double carnitas (pork, the only meat product there made with no soybean oil), black beans, mild salsa, medium salsa and guacamole. Really tasty and extremely filling. Saved a little less than half for lunch.

WOD / Active Recovery / Custom Workout
Same workout as Day 33:

A. Single leg weighted split squat: 3 x 6-8, 3010 tempo, 15 sec rest b/w legs

First set: Got to 8 reps with 15# dumbbells.
Second set: Got to 8 reps with 20# dumbbells. Got heavy.
Third set: Barely got to 8 reps with 25# dumbbells. Surprised myself. Guess I gotta go even higher.

B. 6 rounds, not for time, rest as needed:
10 walking lunges
10 pushups
10 sec side bridge, left
10 sec side bridge, right

The pushups seemed harder than last time.

Also ran for ten minutes. Started keeping track of my one mile time: 9:18. Definitely could have gone faster.

Static/dynamic stretches, foam rolling and lax ball.

Day 40

Dentist appt this morning. My dental hygienist said I had very nice teeth! Probably the most painless cleaning experience I’ve had. Been really good about flossing these past few months and it’s paying off.

Breakfast: Four eggs, spinach, hot sauce.

Snack: Banana, half an apple and peanut butter, and a hard-boiled egg.

Lunch: Rest of my Chipotle dinner, rest of the apple with peanut butter and half a kiwi. Not buying kiwi anymore. Tried to like it but it’s not for me.

Dinner: Roasted chicken thighs and leftover Brussels sprouts. Also made a huge batch of pumpkin, sweet potato and leek soup. Froze two quarts of it and will be going through two additional quarts of it over the next few days.

Lax ball and static stretches.

Day 41

Breakfast: Three eggs, leftover pork, spinach and hot sauce.

Snack: Half an apple and peanut butter, hard-boiled egg, and a banana.

Lunch: Baked chicken thigh, leftover Brussels sprouts and a cup of pumpkin soup.

Dinner: Was feeling super lazy so I made breakfast for dinner. Sunny side up eggs and bacon.

Started with ten minutes of running. Cory joined me for the run, so since I stuck by him my time was 10:07 for one mile.

Then I did my custom workout: tabata situps, tabata squats and tabata pushups (knees). The pushups were horribly difficult.

Dynamic stretches before run, static stretches after workout.

Crazy Fun Weekend / Day 36-37

Day 36

WordPress conference in Philly! I woke up at 5 am, put on my Halloween makeup and costume and drove two hours to Philly. I scared all the tollbooth ladies along the way. Pretty fun. And guess what? I won the costume contest! Won a brand new Google Nexus 7 tablet. Too awesome. Here’s a shot of me with one of the organizers of the event.

Breakfast: Four eggs, spinach, hot sauce.

After breakfast I packed all of my food up in my new cooler, which might be my new favorite thing.

Arrived 15 minutes before opening remarks so I refueled with a banana and a cup of coffee.

Snack: Ate some apple slices and peanut butter between sessions.

Lunch: Since my cooler was in the car I decided to be a dork and eat my meals there. Spinach salad with chicken, red cabbage, pomegranate seeds and pecans. Another banana, carrots, and the rest of the apple and peanut butter on the side.

Dinner: Practically a repeat of lunch, except I ate some kiwi, too. I learned that I don’t really like kiwi.

Yeah, no. My day was non-stop from 5 am – 1 am so there was zero time for this.

Day 37

Second time at the Maryland Renaissance Festival! Since it was the last day of the fest, they had their usual “Day of Wrong” where people will wear practically anything they want (Halloween costumes, historically inaccurate costumes, etc.)

Here’s a shot of Cory and me in our costumes.

I also ran into an awesome Link (Ocarina of Time’s Water Temple…never forget).

Breakfast: Two fried eggs and some bacon. Not nearly enough food but it was all I had.

Snack / Lunch: Sorry, was bad about food photos today, but here’s some description.

In order to stick to this week’s challenge (packing my own food for all meals) I ate as much as I could on the way to the Fest and snuck food in once I got there. Ate an apple with peanut butter, a banana and some jerky in the car. All throughout the fest I chewed through an entire bag of jerky and ate a Larabar, too.

I was feeling naughty so before we left I treated myself to some dessert: a cinnamon roll and a cup of cappucino. Mind-blowingly delicious.

Dinner: Ran to the store (changed first), got some more eggs and fried a couple up. Was starving and too exhausted to think about a serious dinner.

Nothin’. Thanks, RenFest. And my laziness. Was nice taking a little break so I could fully concentrate on the fun.

I’m totally in bonus point debt and there’s no way I can catch up at this point. I’m already planning on blowing another three points this coming Friday for a big Halloween party at a local brewery. Should be entirely worth it.
